Intervention at Beit Bridge border post

Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Lindiwe Sisulu has expressed gratitude towards Vhembe District Municipality (VDM) and Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) for the intervention at Beit Bridge border post where VDM and LNW, along with Musina Municipality, introduced emergency measures amid congestion arising from increased traffic witnessed during the Festive period.

“I am grateful for the initiative of Lepelle Northern Water, Vhembe District Municipality and Musina Municipality to ensure that there is fresh water at the border for travelers. I have tasked Lepelle Northern Water to work with the district municipality to ensure that there is a permanent solution at the border,” Minister Sisulu said.

As an emergency measure VDM and LNW have constructed two water tanks at the border post on Tuesday. Since 24 December 2020 and yesterday the district municipality and LNW have respectively commenced with deploying a water tanker to ensure the constant augmenting of water levels, a process that is continuously being monitored.

The water tanks are located at the border gate and at the main administration facility at Beit Bridge.
