 Remuneration package is negotiable at D Upper Paterson Broadband considering LNW remuneration standards as well as the level of qualifications and experience.

 MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Law Degree
  • At least 8 years’ experience as a company secretary of which 5 years must be at middle management level.
  • Admission as an attorney or Advocate and a Valid driver’s license are prerequisite.
  • A legal postgraduate qualification, Company Secretarial certificate, and registration with relevant professional body for Chartered Secretaries will be an added advantage.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Comprehensive understanding of King IV recommendations.
  • must be computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint etc.)
  • Planning and Organizing, Strong report and minute writing skills.
  • Emotional Intelligence, problem solving, communication (verbal and written) interpretation skills, strong business acumen and ethical standards, good presentation skills, report writing skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Board functionally and administratively to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the incumbent will be responsible for building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Provide advisory services in relation to secretariat services to the Board and board committees
  • Provide advice to the Board on legislative matters such as PFMA, Companies Act, King IV Report, Constitutional and administrative issues.
  • Give legal opinion and advice as and when required by the Board.
  • Provide input in the planning and compilation of the annual budget aligned to the operational and strategic delivery plans to support the implementation of set objectives.
  • Provide a central source of guidance and advice to the Board on matters of law, ethics and good governance.
  • Provide an update on legislative and corporate governance developments to the Board
  • Administer Board and Board Committees Secretariat functions
  • Assist Chairperson and CEO to determine the annual Board plan and the administration of other issues of a strategic nature at the Board level.
  • Plan and design the Board and its committee meetings agenda and prepare meetings packs in consultation with the CEO and Chair of the Board
  • Ensure proper and orderly conduct of Board and Board Committee meetings
  • Draft and distribute the minutes to the Board and its committee members
  • Submit Board action plans to the CEO
  • Monitor committee action plans to ensure plans are being addressed timeously
  • Schedule Board, Committees meetings and maintain registers
  • Ensure new Board members undergo the appropriate training/ induction
  • Compile reports on Board matters for auditing purposes to include compliance
  • Ensure that the Board Charter and the terms of reference or any charters of Board Committees are periodically reviewed and kept up to date.
  • Prepare and process Board claims for payment
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation by the organization, including the Board and Committees.
  • Ensure the mitigation of the unit’s risk profile through the application of fraud controls and risk prevention principles and implementing of sound governance and compliance processes and tools to identify and manage risks
  • Manage and lead Office of the Company Secretary.

Minimum requirements: National Diploma in Finance Management or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Commerce coupled with 5 years relevant experience in Financial Accounting environment of which 3 years’ experience should be at a Supervisory level. A valid driver’s license is a prerequisite and registration with the relevant professional body will be an added advantage.

Key responsibilities:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for  reviewing of taxes owed and preparation of tax returns:

  • Ensuring compliance with payment
  • Reporting or tax requirements and interpretation of management accounting information systems, policies, and procedures
  • Responsible for revenue & debtors management, creditors management, payroll management.
  • Modifies and recommends changes in accounting systems
  • Ensure compliance with all the financial management legislative requirements
  • Develop specific financial models, systems, policies and procedures for financial accounting
  • Obtain approval and implement financial models, systems and procedures for financial accounting
  • Provides interpretation of financial accounting models
  • Modifies and recommends changes in accounting systems
  • Establishes tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts for the sub general ledgers
  • Prepares, examines, or analyses accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and performance reporting and procedural standards
  • Compiles monthly and quarterly financial reports (financial statements)
  • Directly supervise subordinates

Reporting to the Senior Assets Accountant, the incumbent will be responsible for Ensuring accurate billing of revenue account to all customers

  • Implementation of credit control policy to ensure collection of revenue
  • Ensure adequate coordination between the revenue and production team to ensure accuracy and completeness of meter readings
  • Debtors assessment and annually impair account receivable in line with GRAAP 104.
  • Implementation of investment policy to ensure LNW maximizes return on investment.
  • Monitoring, control and reconciliation of bank account.
  • Manage and reconcile Pettty cash accounts
  • Engage both internal and external stakeholder to resolve disputes. Identification of assets to be disposed
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the unit

  • Coordinating and implementing proactive internal and external public relations strategy
  • Liaises and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on matters of mutual interest
  • Manages and implements media activity as required to increase positive stakeholder opinion about the organization
  • Develops and delivers responses for all stakeholder enquiries, issues, etc.
  • Executes public relations efforts to maximize the organisation’s brand and build relationships with other role players within the water sector
  • Provides special events planning and delivery designed to foster supportive relationships, knowledge transfer and provide opportunity for partnerships or twinning agreements
  • Supports the design and development of a visitors’ programme around the organisation’s principles and values that enhance positive relationships and captures the stakeholders’ desire to cooperate with the organization
  • Prepares presentations, banners and fliers to increase public opinion and awareness on the business of the organization

  • Handles all media enquiries
