LNW Regional representation within its service area

While the head office of the organization is in the city of Polokwane, regional management is maintained at various district municipalities to ensure strategic oversight and maintenance of close interactions with respective municipal technical teams

Ebenezer

  • Situated approximately 70km east of the Polokwane Municipal area.
  • Water is abstracted from the Ebenezer Dam.
  • Supplies potable water to Haenertsburg (Mopani District) and Polokwane Local Municipality consumers.
  • Plant capacity – 56 Mℓ/day
  • Raw water allocation: 16 000 Mℓ/annum (44 Mℓ/day)
  • Present consumption: 17 031 Mℓ/annum (46.66 Mℓ/day)

Olifantspoort

  • Situated approximately 50km East of Lebowakgomo in the Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality.
  • Water abstracted from a weir in the Olifants River and the scheme is dependent on water stored in the Flag Boshielo Dam, 73km upstream from the weir.
  • Supplies potable water to the Polokwane Municipal area, the rural villages in the Lepelle Nkumpi Municipality area and the peri-urban town of Lebowakgomo.
  • Plant capacity – 60 Mℓ/day.
  • Raw water allocation: 15 000 Mℓ/annum (41 Mℓ/day)
  • Present consumption: 22 070 Mℓ/annum (60.5 Mℓ/day)

Doorndraai

  • Situated about 38km South West of Mokopane town in the Mogalakwena Local Municipality.
  • Water abstracted from the Doorndraai Dam.
  • Supplies potable water to the Mogalakwena Municipality.
  • Plant capacity – 12 Mℓ/day
  • Raw water allocation: 4 380 Mℓ/annum (12 Mℓ/day)
  • Present consumption: 4 924 Mℓ/annum (13.5 Mℓ/day)

Phalaborwa

  • Situated 17km south of the town of Phalaborwa in the Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality.
  • Water is abstracted from the Olifants River.
  • Supplies potable water to Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, and semi treated/ industrial and/or raw water to the mines and other industrial users through networks dedicated to each type of water supplied.
  • Plant capacity – 150 Mℓ/day of which 76 Mℓlday can be purified to potable standards.
  • Raw water allocation: 64 000 Mℓ/annum (175 Mℓ/day)
  • Present consumption: 36 661 Mℓ/annum (109 Mℓ/day)

Politsi

  • Situated about 9km from the town of Modjadjiskloof in the Mopani District.
  • Water is abstracted from the Magoebaskloof Dam.
  • Supplies potable water to Magoebaskloof and the Ga-kgapane area in the Mopani District.
  • Plant capacity – 6.5 Mℓ/day
  • Raw water allocation: 3 600 Mℓ/annum (9.86 Mℓ/day)
  • Present consumption: 1 856 Mℓ/annum (6.19 Mℓ/day)

Modjadji

  • Situated about 30km North of Tzaneen town.
  • Water abstracted from the Modjadji dam.
  • Currently supplies potable water to ± 83 000 people in the surrounding rural villages in Modjadji area.
  • Plant capacity –has been upgraded to 12 Mℓ/day
  • Raw water allocation: 4 000 Mℓ/annum (10.95 Mℓ/day)
  • Present consumption: 2 352 Mℓ/annum (7.8 Mℓ/day)

Nkowankowa

  • Situated about 15 kilometres East of Tzaneen town.
  • Water abstracted from a weir in the Greater Letaba River.
  • Supplies potable water to ± 93 419 people and some small industries in the area.
  • Plant capacity – 24 Mℓ/day
  • Raw water allocation: 3 500 Mℓ/annum (9.6 Mℓ/day)
  • Present consumption: 6 106 Mℓ/annum (20.4 Mℓ/day)

Flag Boshielo

  • Situated approximately 35km North of Marble Hall Town.
  • Water abstracted from the Flag Boshielo Dam.
  • Supplies potable water to the rural villages in the Marble Hall and Fetakgomo Municipal area.
  • Plant capacity – 12 Mℓ/day
  • Raw water allocation: 10 950 Mℓ/annum
  • Present consumption: 4 165 Mℓ/annum 11.4 Mℓ/day)

Sekhukhune District Municipality

LNW has entered into a bulk service agreement for 12 months with the Greater Sekhukhune District Municipality for the operations and maintenance of the schemes in the following municipalities while the longer-term contract is still being discussed:

Greater Tubatse Local Municipality

  • Situated in the South-Eastern part of the Limpopo Province
